Award-winning British Asian indie drama Never Had A Chance will arrive in select UK cinemas on August 14, 2026, with the film’s official trailer now released ahead of its theatrical debut.
Directed and produced by Jazz Bhalla, and co-produced by Vikrant Chopra, Ben Pengilly and Rajinder Kochar, the film explores identity, friendship and survival through the experiences of a young man growing up in West London’s Punjabi community.
The film stars Amar Chaggar as Ravi, a young man attempting to move beyond his past while searching for a more stable future.
But when a new relationship offers him the possibility of change, Ravi finds himself caught between the life he wants and the pressures of those around him.
Set in Hounslow, Never Had A Chance aims to portray British Asian experiences through a story rooted in the realities of community, culture and personal choices.
The film has already gained recognition on the UK and international festival circuit, winning Best First Feature at Kingston International Film Festival and Best Feature at London Independent Film Festival.
It has also screened at events including the UK Asian Film Festival, LightReel Film Festival, British and Irish Film Festival Luxembourg and Northampton Film Festival.
Director Jazz Bhalla said: “This film is rooted in experiences and situations that will feel very real to many young people growing up in West London.
“It explores pressure, identity, and the choices people make when they feel boxed in by their environment.
“To be releasing in cinemas means a great deal because not only is it a dream come true, but it also shows others that it is still possible to promote independent voices and personal storytelling in this day and age.
“At its heart, Never Had A Chance is about striving for something better, even when the odds feel stacked against you.”
Alongside its exploration of West London life, the film’s soundtrack draws inspiration from British Asian music and dub influences, reflecting the sounds and cultural landscape of the community it portrays.
The cast includes Amar Chaggar as Ravi, Jayant Singh as Jay and Tina Sharma as Sukhy, alongside Amit Dhut, Bhasker Patel, Parvinder Shergill, Saddiqua Akhtar, Hajaz Akram, Raj Singh and Shah Hussain.
Never Had A Chance will be released in select cinemas nationwide from Friday, August 14, 2026, with full cinema listings set to be announced soon.
