"we see this scumbag give open threats to a female comedian"
Social media influencer Shubham Mishra uploaded a video in which he explicitly abuses comedian Agrima Joshua and even threatens her with rape.
Mishra has over 290,000 subscribers on YouTube and he is known for his rants on certain topics such as the police encounter of Vikas Dubey.
However, his profane rant on the comedian has sparked outrage.
Mishra uploaded the video where he slammed Agrima for her jokes about Indian warrior-king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
An old video of Agrima surfaced online where she made jokes about the planned statue in the Arabian Sea.
She had joked that the government should be spending taxpayers money on public healthcare instead of statues. However, the joke did not go well.
Agrima was criticised for “hurting sentiments” of the king’s followers.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh called for legal action against the comedian. However, she later apologised and said that the video was taken down.
Despite the situation being seemingly resolved, Mishra made the video and threatened Agrima with rape.
The video was later deleted but fellow comedian Kunal Kamra posted the misogynistic rant and wrote:
“Dear National Commission for Women (NCW) does this concern you, we see this scumbag give open threats to a female comedian who has already apologised & taken her objectionable video down.”

In the video, Mishra is seen sitting inside a car and hurls frequent abuse towards Agrima and her mother.
Many social media users were angry at the vile threats made by the influencer and called for legal action.
One user wrote: “Sir Instagram influencer by name Shubham Mishra/ Badass Shubham in a video posted on Instagram threatened publicly to rape Agrima Joshua & has incited other men to do same.
“As a woman living in Maharashtra, I feel unsafe that an admitted rapist is roaming free! Pls look into it.”
Another posted: “With the amount of people tweeting, tagging, putting up stories about Shubham Mishra, why hasn’t the Mumbai Police put out a statement saying they’re looking into the matter?
“It’s not possible they haven’t seen it. It’s a violent rape threat. How is it not on their radar?”
The NCW responded to Kunal and promised to take action against Mishra.
“NCW India has been tagged on this video by @kunalkamra88 where a man can be heard hurling abuses and giving open threats to a female comedian.
“NCW is committed to creating a safe online space for women. We’ll take action and ensure that this man gets the strictest punishment possible.”
After the video was deleted by Mishra, he issued another post, saying that he did not intend to give rape threats. He went on to say that he will explain his actions further in another video.
