The Ashraf family remain unconvinced.

Celebrity chef Parveen Ashraf has revealed that her husband, civil engineer Qamar Ashraf, was fatally shot in Ghana in November 2024.

Months after his death, the TV personality has spoken publicly about her family’s grief while raising concerns about the investigation.

Known to many as Parveen the Spice Queen, the television cook returned to social media after almost ten months away.

In an emotional Instagram video, she told followers that her husband had died around six months earlier.

The announcement marked the first time Parveen had publicly addressed the tragedy that has devastated her family.

Qamar Ashraf enjoyed a successful career as a civil engineer in the UK before relocating to Ghana to oversee major infrastructure projects.

His work included developments such as hospitals and road networks.

His son, Imran, later joined him in Ghana, where they worked on engineering projects together.

Although based overseas, Qamar regularly travelled back to the UK to spend time with his family.

Parveen and their children also visited him in Ghana, making long-distance family life part of their routine.

According to the family, business conditions became increasingly difficult.

They said payments were delayed and projects became more uncertain, creating significant pressure during his final months.

His daughter, Sherine, said his behaviour had changed before his death, adding that he seemed distant and unlike himself.

On the evening of November 7, 2024, Qamar met his son Imran at a café in Accra.

Imran later recalled that the pair were discussing work when two masked men arrived on a motorcycle.

One reportedly approached the table with a firearm and demanded mobile phones.

According to the family’s account, only Qamar’s phone was taken despite several people being present.

After the suspects rode away, Qamar chased after them. Moments later, a single gunshot was fired.

Imran rushed to his father’s side before taking him to the hospital.

Despite efforts to save him, Qamar died from his injuries.

The family has described the loss as sudden and deeply traumatic.

Since Qamar’s death, the Ashraf family have continued searching for answers.

They have questioned aspects of the police investigation, including witness handling and differing accounts of how many suspects were involved.

The family also believe there are unanswered questions surrounding why only Qamar’s phone was reportedly taken during the incident.

Ghanaian police later announced that six suspected gang members were killed during a separate operation.

They identified them as being responsible for the shooting, bringing the investigation to a close.

However, the Ashraf family remain unconvinced and expressed disappointment with the support they received.

Following her husband’s death, Parveen travelled to Ghana to repatriate his body to the UK.

After several weeks, he was laid to rest following Islamic funeral rites.

Speaking publicly for the first time, the television chef described Qamar as a devoted husband, loving father and hardworking professional.

She urged others to carefully research destinations before travelling or working abroad.

A spokesperson for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it had supported the family and remained in contact with the authorities.

Parveen Ashraf’s return to the public eye has prompted an outpouring of support from fans.
