Aishwarya Rai Bachchan brought the drama to the red carpet at Cannes.
The Bollywood star made her return to the prestigious festival after missing it due to the pandemic and she made sure to go big for 2022.
Aishwarya attended the screening of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick in a black ballgown.
The striking Dolce and Gabbana dress was embellished with 3D flower work in bright colours of pink, crimson, white and yellow.
The flowers cascaded from the shoulder to the floor.
Aishwarya’s dark hair was left loose in sleek waves with a centre parting. Meanwhile, her glamorous makeup consisted of dramatic eyeliner, a hint of blush and bright pink lips.
For accessories, Aishwarya opted for statement sapphire and diamond-encrusted earrings.
She posed for pictures on the red carpet and waved to cheering fans as well.
Aishwarya Rai also posed for pictures with Eva Longoria, who stood out in a Cristina Ottaviano gown. The ombré silver and blush dress was a statement-making look for the star.
However, her outfit received mixed responses.
Some fans loved Aishwarya’s dress, with one saying:
“The thing is the gown is so cute with all those flowers, it is so unique, I was wondering what more can she do apart from big ball gown or long trail, Aishwarya said hold my beer.”
But others were not so keen on the dress.
One person wrote: “Aishwarya’s dress this year is a disaster.
“There’s floral fun and then there’s drowning in flowers with a fabric that photographs like wrinkled monochrome drape.
“I get it that she dresses for her kid but nope, this wasn’t it.”
Another commented: “Whoever is styling Aishwarya needs to get their s*** together.
“It’s her big return and you have one of the most beautiful women on the planet showing up at the L’Oréal event with clown shoes/ugly oversised suit and now the tacky ass flower dress?”
Aishwarya is in Cannes with Abhishek Bachchan and their daughter Aaradhya.
For her first red carpet event at Cannes 2022, Aishwarya made a statement in a bright pink suit from Valentino.
It was a double-breasted drill blazer paired with matching trousers. Aishwarya completed the look with platform heels.
It is reported that the outfit cost $5,300.
In relation to her acting career, Aishwarya called herself a “proverbial tortoise”.
She explained that due to the pandemic, the past two years were a natural pause that everybody took. The actress stated that she is someone who keeps it real and knows her priorities.
Aishwarya went on to say that she has never been concerned about not having back-to-back film releases.
