They have been rumoured to be going on double dates with the newly wedded Duke and Duchess of Sussex and bonafide power couple, Megan Markle and Prince Harry.
Apparently, during Chopra’s time in London, she was sure to introduce her fiancé Nick Jonas to the newly wedded Royal couple.
The close friends even organised a top-secret double date in Megan’s country home in Oxfordshire, England.
Chopra apparently visited Markle because she wanted to personally share the news of her engagement to Nick Jonas.
E! reported that the Duchess of Sussex approves of her close friend’s engagement and is “very excited.”
Especially after Priyanka attended her close friends Royal wedding and beautiful ceremony in May 2018.
Priyanka was the perfect wedding guest and took to Instagram to congratulate her friend in a heartfelt post. She wrote:
“You my friend were the epitome of grace, love, and beauty.”
“Every choice made at this wedding by you both will go down in history, not just because it was your wedding.
“But because this incredible wedding stood for change and hope…both things that the world needs desperately. Thank you for being the perfect picture of all things good.”
Most people are expecting Duke and Duchess of Sussex to be invited to the Barfi star’s big day.
Although, people are wondering whether Megan Markle will be able to be a bridesmaid on her close friend’s big day.
Royal reporter Omid Scobie explains the situation:
“There is no protocol that dictates whether an adult female member of the British Royal Family can take on the role of a bridesmaid or maid of honour at a non-royal’s wedding.”
The Palace say they will not dictate Markle’s decision. She can be a bridesmaid for her close friend’s wedding if she chooses too.
Although, Scobie continues:
“However, it is an unlikely scenario for one simple reason: A female Royal would not be expected to walk behind a ‘commoner’.”
For example, Duchess Kate was younger sister Pippa Middleton’s maid of honour but her responsibilities only involved reading a prayer.
If Priyanka Chopra chooses to invite Markle to her bridal party Scobie reveals that:
“There’s no rule that wouldn’t allow this and she certainly wouldn’t need permission or guidance from Palace aides.”
Royal insider Scobie explains:
“Should a female member of the Royal Family choose to take on a bridal party role at a friend’s wedding, it would be her own decision.”
The Royal family will not interfere with Markle’s decision and she is free to be a bridesmaid if she wants.
So now we know Markle can be a bridesmaid, we just need to wait and see if Chopra will ask!
Although, regardless of whether Chopra asks Markle to be her bridesmaid, it is definitely refreshing to see a female friendship coming to light and also celebrated in mainstream media.
