Married Indian Teacher Dies after Love Affair with Student

A married Indian teacher has died after she took her own life. The incident happened in Sirhind, Punjab.

The 25-year-old had been having an affair with one of her students. They intended to commit suicide together by jumping into the canal, however, she died while her lover survived.

Police identified the deceased as Premdeep Kaur while her lover was named as Simranpreet Singh.

Premdeep’s body and car were found on April 7, 2020. On April 10, her lover was arrested.

It was revealed that they fled their homes and met with each other. They decided to jump into the canal as they wanted to die together.

During questioning, Simranpreet explained that he was receiving tutoring from Premdeep. During that time, they developed a relationship.

Both wanted to get married but their families did not approve of their relationship.

Meanwhile, Premdeep got married to someone else. Despite her marriage, she continued to see Simranpreet.

On March 17, 2020, the lovers fled. They stayed in various cities before returning on April 7.

The married Indian teacher and her lover made a pact to die together so they decided to jump into the canal.

Simrandeep swam out of the canal and took his lover’s body out of the canal. Premdeep was still alive but her condition was rapidly deteriorating.

Due to the unsuccessful suicide attempt, Simrandeep jumped into the canal again. However, he was unsuccessful once again.

He then called an ambulance but by that time, his lover had died.

Simranpreet then fled the scene. Based on a tip-off, police arrived at the scene and recovered Premdeep’s body.

A case was registered. During the investigation, police found out that the two lovers had sent suicide notes to their homes.

Premdeep’s brother Lovedeep Singh told police that the student’s family were the reason for them wanting to commit suicide.

Officers registered a case against Simranpreet’s brother Harmanpreet Singh, mother Poonam Rani and father Jagdish Singh.

Simranpreet was arrested after Lovedeep alleged that he was harassing his sister, which resulted in her taking her own life.

The student was presented before the court and later remanded in custody in Nabha Jail while the investigation continues.

There have been numerous cases of lovers taking their own lives, whether it is one of them or both.

Unfortunately, it is a growing trend, especially when it involves one person in the relationship having an arranged marriage to another.
