A Reddit discussion saw strippers commenting on men of certain races being more disrespectful towards them than others.
One stripper sparked the discussion with a sub-Reddit titled:
“Do you find certain races are more disrespectful during dances than others??”
It led to a discussion between other strippers and lap dancers, with many claiming that Indian men are among the most rude customers.
The negativity specifically involved men from India and according to the dancers, it may be due to a lack of cultural awareness.
In India, strip clubs are usually underground due to the stigma surrounding sexuality.
Due to this, when Indian men move to Western countries and visit strip clubs – which have strict no-touching policies – they don’t know how to behave correctly.
In the Reddit thread, many strippers shared their experiences of Indian men being touchy-feely.
One dancer in Australia recalled one Indian man “pinching her nipples” and repeatedly asking if she could perform oral sex on him.
She added: “They literally BEG for a dance from the girls at my club because no one wants to deal with them.
“I’m in Australia so they’re a huge part of the clientele sadly.”
Another agreed: “Same! The last one I did, the guy started kissing my body.
“I was like I’m leaving you f*****g weirdo, then he proceeded to grab my hands and claw on them so I wouldn’t leave. I elbowed him.”
In addition to being groped, strippers discussed that it is the norm for Indian men to not tip and to negotiate prices.
One commented: “Indian customers are super touchy without your consent and will barely tip as other dancers as mentioned.”
Another said: “Indians. They are cheap. I never entertain them. Haven’t in a long time.”
One lap dancer of Indian origin pointed out that men from India who are in a new country tend to behave disrespectfully.
However, she highlighted that it depends on where in India they are from.
The stripper said: “Usually, the ones from Mumbai and a few other cities and from a wealthy background actually behave appropriately.”
On the other hand, Indian-origin men living in Western countries are much more respectful, mainly due to the fact that they know about the cultural norms, therefore they know how to behave.
One explained: “Men from India tend to be disrespectful and cheap but British men of Indian descent are a lot better.”
Meanwhile, one stripper stated that it is a customer’s country of origin rather than their race.
She said:
“Here’s my take: it’s not the race, it’s the country of origin.”
“American men regardless of race are almost always the best to dance for. Because strip club culture here is so different from other parts of the world.
“I had an Indian-American customer recently that was so generous and polite. I’d gladly take an American of any race over a foreigner of any race.”
Another claimed there were signs to differentiate which Indians are respectful and which are not.
She said: “It took me a while to learn how to differentiate which Indian guys would be respectful over the ones that aren’t.
“I find if they smell clean, are dressed nice, have an expensive watch, and they articulate themselves very well that, they are respectful.
“Another green flag is they are okay with VIP prices and don’t try to negotiate.”
Although a lot of attention was on Indian men, it was pointed out that any man could behave inappropriately at a strip club.
