"Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven"
Shahid Afridi has reportedly announced that his daughter is all set to marry Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi.
The former national team captain explained that both families came together after Shaheen’s family made a formal proposal.
Shaheen is regarded as one of Pakistan’s most promising fast bowlers and it was previously speculated that he would be getting engaged to Shahid’s daughter, Aqsa.
Now, it looks like the rumours have come true.
Shahid took to social media to make the announcement and also offered his blessings to Shaheen both on and off the cricket field.
He tweeted: “Shaheen’s family approached my family for my daughter.
“Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven, if Allah wills this match will be made too.
“My prayers are with Shaheen for his continued success on and off the field.”
He went on to say that both families have come to an agreement.
He said: “Both families have reached a decision and my daughter is going to be engaged to Shaheen.”
Shahid added that a formal engagement between the pair will be announced soon.
Shaheen's family approached my family for my daughter. Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven, if Allah wills this match will be made too. My prayers are with Shaheen for his continued success on and off the field.

Shaheen thanked Shahid for his kind words, stating he was the “pride of the entire nation”.
Shaheen’s father Ayaz Khan also said that he had sent the marriage proposal and that it was accepted.
He said: “We are very happy and both families have been in discussions for the last few months and hopefully now dates will be finalised soon.”
Pakistani journalist Ihtisham ul Haq confirmed the news and said that a formal engagement will be done after the completion of Aqsa’s education.
He tweeted: “With permission from both families, I would like to clarify the engagement rumours between Shaheen Afridi and the daughter of Shahid Afridi.
“The proposal has been accepted; it is thought that a formal engagement will be done within two years, following the completion of her [Aqsa’s] education.”
Shahid Afridi has five daughters: Aqsa, Ansha, Ajwa, Asmura and Arwa.
Both Shahid and Shaheen featured in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which had to be postponed due to several Covid-19 cases.
Shaheen made his international debut in 2018 against the West Indies.
Since then, he has played 15 Tests, 22 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 21 T20Is.
Before the PSL was postponed, Shahid represented the Multan Sultans while Shaheen led the Lahore Qalandars.
