"I'd jump on something like that."
A seemingly casual Instagram post by Hrithik Roshan has sent the internet into a complete frenzy amid the ongoing Don 3 dispute.
The actor shared a selfie on the platform expressing his desire to play morally complex characters rather than the conventional heroic roles he is typically offered.
“Just got asked what’s the kind of role I’m looking for. And I surprised myself when it came to me.
“Remember Zaffar from luck by chance? That’s the one. I’d jump on something like that.
“But directors only wanna see me play the good guy. Sad.”
Zaffar is the ambitious and morally questionable character Hrithik played in Zoya Akhtar’s 2009 film Luck By Chance, widely praised as one of his finest performances.
The reference to a Zoya Akhtar film immediately caught attention given that her brother Farhan Akhtar is at the centre of the Don 3 controversy with Ranveer Singh.
What truly set social media alight, however, was what happened in the comment section of Hrithik’s post shortly after it was published.
Zoya Akhtar herself responded under the post, writing: “Let’s get that coffee.”
Those four words were more than enough to send fans and internet theorists into an absolute spiral of excited speculation and creative interpretation.
Comments flooded in immediately with fans tagging both Zoya and Farhan and urging them to cast Hrithik in the long-troubled Don 3 production.
A user said: “Get him for Don 3!”
The theory gained even more momentum on Reddit, where users began dissecting the post for every possible layer of intentional meaning.
One user commented: “I feel he is subtly pitching for Don 3 to Farhan…all the hints: Farhan, bad guy, good role.”
Another added: “People loved Hrithik’s cameo in Don 2, with most saying he was better than SRK.
“There is already immense support for him.”
A third commenter noted that his prior involvement in the franchise made the connection feel all the more plausible and worth taking seriously.
Not everyone was convinced, however, that the post represented any calculated pitch for the role from the actor.
Several voices pointed out that Hrithik and Farhan share a long and close friendship that would make a direct conversation far more likely.
A user pointed out: “I mean they are childhood friends and he has worked on two of Farhan’s most celebrated movies.
“Do you really think if Hrithik wants to ‘pitch’ for Don 3, he will do it via IG?”
The renewed speculation around Hrithik and Don 3 comes amid the very public and increasingly complicated feud between Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh.
Ranveer had been announced as the lead of Don 3 back in 2023 but was recently issued a Non-Cooperation Directive by FWICE following his abrupt exit.
Farhan is reportedly seeking Rs 40 crore in damages from Ranveer as the film had already entered pre-production.
Hrithik Roshan had previously appeared in a brief but memorable cameo in Don 2 (2011), which had originally sparked rumours of him taking over the lead role.
