Tazrin Farhana Oindrila, the daughter of the famous Bangladeshi star Bulbul Ahmed, will be directing a biopic on her later father.

This venture marks a pivotal moment for Oindrila, who is eager to honour her father’s legacy.

The title of the film has yet to be finalised.

Bulbul Ahmed, often referred to as the “Mahanayak” of Bangladeshi cinema, made an indelible impact on the industry with his powerful performances.

He is most notably known for playing the titular role in the 1982 film Devdas.

His captivating presence on screen earned him a special place in the hearts of millions.

In an interview, Oindrila expressed her profound emotional connection to the biopic.

She said: “My father was an artist beloved by all. He received immense love from millions.”

Reflecting on her past work, she noted the success of her 2010 documentary, Ekjon Jibonto Kingbodontir Kotha.

The documentary garnered widespread acclaim.

This documentary is now broadcast during Bulbul Ahmed’s birth and death anniversaries on TV.

Oindrila recounted a touching moment when her father viewed the documentary.

“He cried and said, ‘People usually make documentaries after someone passes away, but I got to see mine while I’m still alive, and that too, made by my daughter’.

“His emotional response deeply moved me.”

Though she had initially envisioned writing a biography, her father’s death in 2010 left her heartbroken.

She said: “Losing him was a big sorrow.”

After three years of research, she is now fully dedicated to crafting a biopic that is both artistic and true to her father’s story.

Oindrila stated: “This film is my dream project. Although it will take time, I want to ensure it is done right.

“This will be my directorial debut, and I will take the necessary time to do justice to his story.”

The biopic aims to cover Bulbul Ahmed’s entire life – from his childhood and early career to his rise as a beloved actor.

Regarding casting, Oindrila revealed that multiple actors will portray her father at various stages of his life.

“Since the film will depict different phases of his life, we will need several actors to represent him at different ages.

“We are still finalising the cast and will make decisions once the script is complete.”

As Oindrila prepares to bring her father’s story to the screen, fans and followers eagerly await a film that celebrates Bulbul Ahmed.
