Reports suggest that Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor will star in director Karan Johar’s new romcom. This film will supposedly arrive after the actress’ only confirmed project since the birth of her child, Veere Di Wedding.
The reports suggest that she took the offer while on maternity leave. A source revealed to DNA says:
“Karan has approached her for one of his home productions. It’s a romcom and the two friends are talking the project over.”
Currently, the romcom remains untitled.
However, should the rumours prove true and Kareena does sign on for the movie it will be her first with Dharma Productions since 2013. Back then, she starred in romcom Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
Karan Johar himself has only directed Kareena Kapoor in one movie, the famous Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham. He did, however, produce the aforementioned Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and We Are Family.
Whilst the two still remain, good friends, they have previously had one spat. Karan Johar revealed in his autobiography that he and Kapoor fell out over her salary. Kapoor wanted the same salary as Shah Rukh Khan in Kal Ho Na Ho, but, Johar disagreed.
They then spent the next year avoiding one another, before eventually burying their differences.
Kapoor’s appearance in Veere Di Wedding is highly anticipated. More so because it will be her first Bollywood appearance since Udta Punjab.
The Bollywood actress took some time out for the birth of her first child Taimur Ali Khan Pautadi.
Since then, she has slowly begun taking on more commitments, filming commercials, appearing at awards shows, and performing at said award shows.
Reports also claim that the actress has also been looking through various scripts during her maternity leave. So far, she will prepare to begin filming Veere Di Wedding in May.
The film looks to be a promising hit, especially with Kapoor’s return to the big screen. Should she and Karan Johar work together, that too is sure to be a high-quality movie.
It appears that for the near future, the Bollywood star will be quite busy with movies, and performances.
