“Bringing Dishoom to Glasgow has long been a dream of ours."

Dishoom will be bringing its trademark Bombay-inspired hospitality to the heart of Glasgow very soon.

The long-awaited cafe will launch on August 29, 2025, in a Grade A listed building on Nelson Mandela Place, once home to Glasgow’s stock exchange.

The new 7,000 sq ft site marks the brand’s second location in Scotland, following the success of Dishoom Edinburgh, which has been drawing crowds since 2017.

Known for its atmospheric storytelling, Dishoom’s Glasgow café is inspired by a fictional narrative rooted in the city’s historic South Asian connections.

This time, the story follows Miss X, a covert agent from Bombay turned café owner, who runs a bustling Irani eatery at the bottom of the former stock exchange.

The new restaurant will be open all day, from breakfast through to dinner.

Guests can expect Dishoom favourites such as the Bacon Naan Roll, House Black Daal, and Chicken Ruby, dishes that have made the brand a cult favourite across the UK.

Chef Arun Tilak, Dishoom’s Executive Chef, said:

“Bringing Dishoom to Glasgow has long been a dream of ours.

“The team has worked hard to create a space and a menu that feels authentic to Bombay while celebrating the character of Glasgow and the heritage of its South Asian community.

“We cannot wait to welcome our first guests through the door for shared stories and leisurely feasts.”

The opening is about more than just food.

Dishoom’s social mission will also extend to Glasgow through its Meal for a Meal initiative. For every meal served, a meal will be donated to a child who might otherwise go without.

The scheme supports children in the UK through Magic Breakfast and in India through The Akshaya Patra Foundation.

So far, over 20 million meals have been donated across Dishoom’s ten UK cafés in cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

Chef Tilak added:

“Every Dishoom tells a Bombay story which comes to life when people sit, eat and share together.”

“That sense of warmth and welcome is at the heart of what we do, and we’re so looking forward to seeing it in Glasgow.

“We invite people to make this café their own, whether they’re grabbing breakfast before work or settling in for a big evening feast with friends and family.”
