The DESIblitz SpotLight zooms onto Ayesha Takia, the fresh, zestful and buxom Bollywood actress who has topped the votes for being the most Sexiest Female Indian Celebrity and is known for not doing kissing or intimate scenes in any of her Bollywood films.

Ayesha was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, in India, on April 10th 1986.

She was named Ayesha Takia and raised in Chembur, Mumbai by her parents – Nishit, her father of Gurati origin and Faridh, her mother, who is half British and half Maharashtrian, an Anglo-Indian Muslim. She has a younger sister called Natasha.

Her father looks after Ayesha’s business interests by handling her dates and discussing roles with producers for forthcoming films.

Ayesha had an aptitude for acting from a young age. At the age of four years, she did photographic modelling. She also appeared in a music video for the song Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye by the singer Phalguni Pathak, when she was fifteen.

Schooling wise, Ayesha went to St. Anthony’s High School in Mumbai but never went onto college because she started to work at the young age of sixteen. Her mother tongue was primarily English at home. She had the drive and passion for the screen so she worked on her Hindi and Telugu, committing herself for a career in Bollywood.

She then appeared in the video, Shake It Daddy, when she was sixteen, which brought her to the attention of the movie industry, and a few film offers followed.

For her break into films, the makers of ‘Socha Na Tha’ approached Ayesha in 2004, to play the lead role opposite Dharmendra’s nephew, Abhay Deol, which she accepted. However, she also signed up for ‘Tarzaan: The Wonder Car’ which was her actual debut film as ‘Socha Na Tha’ got delayed.

Her debut role got Ayesha noticed in Bollywood quickly and she was awarded the Filmfare Best Debut Award in 2004 for her performance in the ‘Tarzaan: The Wonder Car’ movie.

Ayesha has endorsed many brands and products in her career. One of her famous campaigns was when as a little girl, she appeared in the famous I’m a Complan Boy! I’m a Complan Girl! adverts alongside Shahid Kapoor. See for yourself in the video of the commercial below!

Takia amongst other awards, won the Zee Cine Critics Award for Best Actress for her role in the film.

Admiration for other Bollywood stars is something Ayesha openly shares and said “I have been the greatest fan of Aamir Khan. I wanted to marry him when I was 8! I have been watching Shahrukh Khan’s films a lot of late. And I think he is too charismatic for words!”

Her favorite actresses are Sridevi and Rani Mukherji. She finds that there are many good directors but she has always liked Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
