"Sometimes, we played the victim card."
Following her parents’ divorce, Sara Ali Khan revealed she “blackmails” Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan to get things.
Sara Ali Khan acknowledges that she and her brother, Ibrahim Ali Khan, have benefited following their parent’s divorce by being able to get things as an excuse.
Prior to marrying Kareena Kapoor, Saif was previously married to Amrita Singh.
However, they reportedly separated on a sour note.
As a result, Saif was once prohibited from meeting Sara and Ibrahim by Amrita.
But now, the connection between Sara and Ibrahim and Saif and Kareena is one of happiness.
Sara Ali Khan was recently asked in an interview whether she had ever deceived Amrita and Saif. She admitted that she had done so when she was younger.
She admitted that she frequently plays the divorce card in order to get the things she wants.
Sara said: “Sometimes, we played the victim card.
“Like the obvious way, in my family dynamic.
“Like, ‘Abba is not here mummy, give this to us’ at the age of 11, or, ‘Abba, you don’t live with us, give this to us,’ at the age of 15. Replace 11 and 15 with 26.”
Sara and Ibrahim were raised by Amrita as she assumed the role of a single mother.
In 2021, Sara revealed that she was aware of her parent’s discontent from an early age. She also said she preferred to have had two happy homes, rather than one with feuding parents.
She described how her mother had become suddenly joyful.
Sara explained: “Even at the age of nine years old, I think I had the maturity to see that these two people living together in our home were not happy.
“And suddenly, they were much happier living in two new homes.”
“For instance, my mom, who I don’t think had laughed in 10 years, was suddenly happy, beautiful, and excited, like she deserves to be.
“Why would I be unhappy if I have two happy parents in two happy homes?”
Amrita was 13 years older than Saif when they first met. Despite the age difference, they secretly married in 1991.
They remained together for 13 years before divorcing, experiencing their fair share of ups and downs along the way.
Since then, both Amrita and Saif have happily moved on with their lives.
