Manoj Bajpayee has revealed the truth behind his viral shirtless picture.
The actor surprised fans when he posted a shirtless photo of himself on social media on New Year’s Day.
At the time, Manoj was promoting his Netflix show Killer Soup and he captioned the post:
“New Year New Me! See the effect of soup on my body. Isn’t it a killer look?”
Fans were stunned by his transformation and took to the comments section.
One said: “The man who can do anything.”
Another wrote: “Always knew you had these underneath the clothes.”
One comment read: “Oh the calculations!! The transformation no one expected! Now we have to take inspiration of physique along with acting!”
One fan said: “OMG this is super sexy Manoj, loved it.”
Film writer and editor Apurva Israni wrote: “Very impressive. But please leave the thirst traps to me.”
Director Anurag Kashyap said: “Chuppe Rustom.”
However, some people believed the picture had been edited, with one person saying:
“Nice editing sir.”
Manoj has now revealed the reality of the picture, admitting that it was “morphed” and was part of the promotional campaign for Killer Soup, which also stars Konkona Sen Sharma.
When asked about the secret of his body transformation, he admitted:
“It was morphed.
“It was a campaign strategy by Netflix. So, they wanted to start a campaign on a high with the intrigue and they managed to be successful doing it.”
On the work front, Manoj Bajpayee was last seen in Killer Soup.
The series is set in the fictional hill station of Mainjur, Tamil Nadu.
It features Swathi (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring yet talentless home chef who conspires to replace her husband Prabhakar (Manoj) with her lover and Prabhakar’s doppelganger, Umesh Pillai.
The series has received rave reviews and on working with each for the first time, Konkona said:
“I have always wanted to work with Manoj but somehow we never got offered anything together.”
“I am thankful to our director, Abhishek Chaubey, for finally making it happen.”
Manoj added: “I’ve followed Konkona’s work and admired it from a distance.
“Besides being a wonderful actor, she’s a talented writer and director.
“It was evident in A Death in the Gunj, her debut directorial, and it is even more evident in her short film The Mirror in Lust Stories 2.
“In fact, it was my favourite film of 2023. The way she etched out her characters and the interpersonal chemistry between them is just so beautiful.
Manoj Bajpayee will also host Discovery Plus’ Secrets of the Buddha Relics, which will launch on the platform on January 22, 2024.
