From Bullying to Arson

From Bullying to Jail
By Owen Winter

It was 1:47 pm and I and my friends were eating in the lunch hall and just like every day the bullies – Tyler and Gurpreet – come towards us and mock me for going to a mosque after school and they think religion is just a stupid group of people praying for nothing but I learnt to deal with it because they mock me every day whenever they have the opportunity to. They also mock my friends for being friends with me and lately they have started to spread rumours about me to everyone including my friends saying that I talk behind their backs and because of that the next day my friends decided that they don’t want to be friends with me anymore because I talk behind their back even though I don’t. Just lately in the lunch hall people are always throwing stuff at me and laughing at me saying it’s what I deserve for talking behind their backs, I have been lonely because of their rumours.

After two days of being bullied by everyone wherever I go, I heard the bullies talking about burning down the mosque so I tried telling people but no one would listen because they think I’m a loser and I’m just trying to get attention and later at lunch Tyler and Gurpreet Started punching me and I fell to the floor so everyone started laughing and saying that I’m predictable and pathetic so I stopped going to school for a while but I kept getting spam messages from people saying I’m a loser and I’m worthless and I kept getting videos sent to me showing me getting punched to the ground and the next day the video was viral with over 4.7 Million likes on TikTok and when I went to the mosque, I heard a lot of people outside of the door then I saw something glowing and they threw it in, it was only then I realised what it was. It was a stick set on fire and all the seats and carpets started catching fire so I ran out and the mosque lit up in flames within seconds and most of the people escaped through emergency exits and then when I was running out the bullies tripped me over and said “aww I think he is going to cry if we don’t stop” and they all laughed at me so I ran home and moved town.

After a week on the news, it said two people arrested for destroying public property and it had pictures of Tyler and Gurpreet so I was happy that they got what they deserved and it said that the burnt down mosque was being rebuilt and would be finished in a few months and I liked my new school and I had better friends who also went to the mosque and there wasn’t anyone bullying me so, in the end, I was happy and the viral video got taken down for rule violations.
