Ticking That Box - Film Screening & Panel Debate

Filmmaker Juggy Sohal wrote Ticking That Box taking into account his own experiences within the media industry. The short film addresses the issue of ‘diversity’ in a working environment, especially concerning someone getting a job on merit or due to a certain tick box. The film offers different perspectives as it follows the journey of a British South Asian woman in a lead role.

This indie film explores many themes such as race, strategic interaction, decision making and lots more. The film has relevance to COVID-19 too with it being shot just after the first lockdown was eased, whilst protests were still going on.

Many people will resonate with this conversational film through a powerful visual medium. Faisal Shafi, Events Editor, at will host the screening and panel discussion. The panellists leading the way include BBC presenter and film director Juggy Sohal, actress and filmmaker Dr Parvinder Shergill.

Broadcaster and actress Hawa Kassam, actor and model Akil Largie, along with music producer and actor Rowan Bradley, complete the panel line up.
