My name is Rohan and I live with my parents and my annoying little sister. I am no ordinary boy, and I am only 5 years old! And I have been on many adventures, but today I will tell you about my best adventure with the pirates.
I found a treasure map in a box in the attic. I didn’t know it was a treasure map until I saw the ‘X’ that marks the spot. I didn’t tell mummy or daddy about the map because they wouldn’t let me go my adventure. Shhhh this is our secret, okay? I can’t read very well so I looked at the picture on the map and the first picture was of a very old house, but I wasn’t sure where this house was.
“What you doing?” called Sumita. Oh, that’s my annoying sister who is a little older than me.
“Nothing Sumita, I am playing with my toys,” I tell her.
“Let me see that paper, otherwise I will tell mummy and daddy you are up to something again,” said Sumita.
“Okay, but only if you help me. Promise me you will help me,” I told Sumita.
Sumita promises to help me and so I show her the map.
“It’s a treasure map!” she shouts.
“Hush Sumita. Mummy and daddy will hear you.” I tell her.
“Oh no I am sorry Rohan. Let’s go on an adventure and find the treasure,” whispered Sumita.
“Right then we need to prepare for it. We need two backpacks with rope, water, food, and tools. Just in case,” I tell Sumita.
When I turn around Sumita isn’t there and then she comes running in with her already packed backpack.
“I packed this a very long time ago just in case for emergencies like this one,” Sumita said.
“Wow, Sumita that’s great. Let’s go and find some treasure. Arghhhh,” pretending to be a pirate.
We both look at the map together and Sumita says “Look Rohan these lines lead towards that haunted house!”
“Be brave, be brave,” I tell myself.
We count the lines and head out towards the haunted house. As we got closer to the house I start to shake and hold onto Sumita. Creeekkkkk… the door made a sound as we opened it and we both jumped.
“Shhhh, don’t make a sound,” whispered Sumita.
We tiptoed to the middle of the room where there was a box, half opened and a green cloth half hanging out. “Let’s open it,” I tell Sumita
We open the box carefully, trying very hard not to make a sound and inside we find two outfits! One was green and one was purple.
“Wow, Sumita look they are pirate outfits for us,” I tell her.
Sumita put on the purple one and I put on the green one.
“Ay, ay captain,” she laughed.
Bang! We hear a noise coming from upstairs and we freeze staring at each other thinking what to do.
“Sh… sh… Shall we go and find out what that is?” I ask Sumita.
Sumita grabs my hand and takes me towards the stairs going up. We climb the stairs one at a time making sure not to make any sound at all and when we get to the top of the stairs, I burst out laughing.
“Hahahahahahahahaha… Look Sumita look we were scared for no reason. It’s a black and white cat!”
Sumita opened her eyes (that she had shut earlier because she was scared), looked at the cat and said, “Aww he is cute. We should take him home.”
With the cat in Sumita’s arms we take another look at the map.
“It says that from the box we have to take 10 steps towards the garden door,” I tell Sumita.
We both run downstairs and from the box, we count “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!” and we end up at the back garden door. We looked out the window, it looked very scary.
“Rohan what does the map say now?” Sumita whispered to me.
“Well, I’m not sure Sumita because some of it is rubbed off,” I said.
“Let me see that!” Shouted Sumita looking annoyed.
“Don’t shout Sumita, you are scaring me,” I tell her.
“I am sorry Rohan. I didn’t mean to shout at you. Look it looks like this hut thingy here is where the treasure might be. Come on let’s go!” Sumita pulled my arm, opened the garden door and we both ran out to the hut.
When we opened it, it was dark inside and I searched around for a light switch. When the light was open, we both gasped and froze!
“Yes, yes, yes, yes. We found it Sumita, we found it. Look that’s the ‘X’ that marks the spot,” I said with joy.
I jump up and down telling Sumita. Sumita grabbed the shovel and started digging!
“Sumita be careful, you are going to hurt yourself. Here let me do it.”
I take the shovel out of her hand and start digging. We take turns digging until we bang something.
“Sumita! Sumita! I think we found something.” I shout with excitement.
“What are you two up now? And where did that cat come from?” I turn around and mum is standing behind us.
“Oh, nothing mum, we were on a pirate adventure, and we dug up the sand pit to look for treasure,” Sumita told mum.
“We found the cat mummy. Can we please keep it? Please, please, please, mummy, can we?” I pleaded at mum looking at her with my cutest face.
Mum looked at us annoyingly and said, “Look at the state of you two. Come on inside get cleaned up. Bring the cat with you too.”
We both smiled at each other and ran inside to get ready for bath time as we came to the end of our pirate adventure!
