We are recruiting for TWO roles: a Trainee Accounts & Treasury Administrator and a Pension Fund Accounts & Treasury Administrator for our Pension Administration business area. This role can be based from our Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Cheltenham, Glasgow or Leeds office (hybrid home/office working).
The Pension Administration Business was established in 1993. Our core business is the provision of services to trustees of UK occupational pension schemes DB, DC, CARE, cash balance – and we will do this as a stand-alone “admin-only” appointment or in conjunction with services provided by other Barnett Waddingham Practice Areas. This role reports into a Treasury Team Leader, Pension Fund Accounts Manager or Associate as agreed.
Responsibilities
A team leader manages each team and work is carried out in accordance with the Pension Administration Practice Area’s control environment procedures and Customer Care ethos which are in place to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the services for clients.
- Maintenance and reconciliation of accounting and banking records
- Reconciliation of pooled investments and AVC funds and assist with the reconciliation of more complex investments
- Preparation of statutory pension scheme trustee reports and other accompanying information for a portfolio of clients ensuring that legislative timescales and client requirements are met
- Assist with the provision of financial management information for clients
- Deal with the audit process, liaising with auditors, clients and third parties as required
- Maintain effective client relationships with trustees and auditors
- Check work of other team members as appropriate, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedures and legislation including the Statement of Recommended Practice, as agreed
- Attend audit planning and completion meetings, when required
- Encourage the team to look for efficiency gains
- Project based work, as agreed from time to time
- Carry out activities in line with agreed service levels and legislative timescales
- Ensure that client and auditor concerns or complaints are raised with the reporting Partner and dealt with immediately
- Develop a clear understanding that procedures, practices and systems are maintained and developed to support the accounts services and comply with Barnett Waddingham’s AAF requirements and Business Management System
- Demonstrate an awareness of the SORP
- Support effective team working and be willing to ask others for support
- Support, implement and maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance to Barnett Waddingham’s Information Security Policy, and other Barnett Waddingham accreditations and awards
- Any other reasonable task as advised from time-to-time
- A strong understanding of Microsoft Office programmes, in particular Excel, Word and Outlook

Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum of GCSE Grade “5” or “C” in Maths and English at grade C or above are essential
- With some technical knowledge, the ideal candidate will be looking to undertake the AAT qualification and will have previous experience working in an accounting or financial services industry
- Knowledge of the pensions industry would be advantageous but is not essential
- A willingness to make progress towards further professional qualifications would be a benefit; however, proven experience in the role is more desirable than other academic achievement
