DESIblitz Job: Community Engagement Project Officer

Community Engagement Project Officer

Part Time Hybrid working
£15,386.28 pro rata

Shakespeare Birthplace Trust are looking to recruit a Community Engagement Project Officer to provide maternity cover on a 21 hour per week, 10-month fixed term contract, from 13 May 2024 concluding on 31 March 2025. The successful candidate can either fulfil the role as a salaried post or on a freelance basis.

This is an exciting time at the Trust, as we grow our work with communities across the Midlands. You will take over the delivery of our Museums Association/Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund project exploring the colonial legacies of the Trust’s collection, with a particular focus on its links with South Asia.

As Community Engagement Project Officer you will deliver the Trust’s work in building and sustaining relationships with existing and new community partners, and to build and deliver this co-produced project. You will lead the delivery of a planned programme of community events and outreach activities to further the understanding of Shakespeare’s work, life, and legacy, and the Trust’s collection, to break down the barriers to participation. Key partners for the project are based in Birmingham, and as such we strongly welcome applications from candidates who are based in Birmingham or are able to travel between Stratford and Birmingham.

The Trust supports flexible working, and as such you would be supported to work at home, onsite in Stratford or at community locations depending on yours and the project’s requirements, with the expectation of being in the office in Stratford approx. twice a month (minimum). Likewise, as a part-time role we recognise that flexible working patterns may enable strong candidates to fulfil this post alongside other commitments.

To find out more about the project and what opportunities the role may involve, you are welcome to contact Lauren Jansen-Parkes, Community Engagement and Placemaking Officer on [email protected] for an informal chat.

The closing date for applications is Monday 22 April 2024 and interviews will take place Tuesday 30 April 2024.
