You will work in collaboration with other Cambridge based CPU engineering teams, evaluating and improving the performance features of CPU micro-architectures by utilising current industry standard workloads. Continuously enriching and accelerating our methodologies to achieve this is also a key part of the role!

Responsibilities:

As a CPU Performance Benchmarking lead, you will be responsible for the delivery of performance and power benchmark data to the teams designing Arm's next generation of power-efficient CPUs, as well as to apply and enhance novel techniques to analyse the data and progress the performance of our processors and cache systems. Your role will extend to mentoring junior team members and collaborating with other sites to optimise shared processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

• CPU architecture features (such as CPU pipelines, caches, predictors, MMUs)
• Use of pre-silicon Verilog RTL simulator or emulator execution environments
• Low-level embedded 'C' or assembler software development coding, testing, optimising and debugging.
• Developing in Linux environments with strong experience in shell, Python or Perl scripting.

'Nice to Have' Skills & Experience

• Hardware design or performance modelling of CPUs or similar components
• CPU performance analysis, especially using industry benchmarks
• Arm instruction set architecture and assembly language
• Familiarity of compilers and how they do code generation
• A good equivalent university degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or another appropriate field.
