Creative Studies Technician

Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with a large Secondary school and Sixth Form in the Romford area seeking a Creative Studies Technician.

You are required to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post of Technician within the Creative Studies Department. The purpose of the post is to provide support, advice and guidance to staff and pupils in the delivery of Creative Studies teaching and contribute towards the smooth running of the Creative Studies teaching area.

Particular emphasis is placed on the following:

  • To undertake the operation of departmental specific machinery including the kiln in order to assist teaching staff both inside and outside of lessons.
  • To undertaking reprographic and administrative work associated with the provision of Creative Studies teaching, ensuring that the necessary documentation is available for use when required. Also maintaining computer records of resources including archives of students work.
  • To undertake the preparation of resources and materials to be used in lessons in order to allow for effective teaching.
  • To provide support, advice and guidance in specialist areas to teachers and pupils in the classroom seeking to ensure that they can undertake work effectively and efficiently. This included one to one support of students in practical tasks.
  • To assist in the provision of training and instruction on various processes within the Creative Studies Department, seeking to ensure that staff and pupils are able to obtain the best results.
  • To undertake, within competence, maintenance, cleaning and repair work on equipment ensuring that it is in good working order. To ensure the Department areas are clean and tidy and comply with health, safety and hygiene requirements by carrying out regular safety checks of all areas ensuring equipment is in good working order, and that the rooms and storerooms are in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
  • To undertake stock control including the ordering/purchase of consumables ensuring that the needs of the School are met. This will involve establishing a system of stock control and the processing of orders when stocks are depleted and the checking of orders and Chadwell Heath Academy a company limited by guarantee, registered in England with number (phone number removed) invoices of any supplies ordered under the supervision of the budget holder.
  • To take responsibility for the upkeep and refreshing of displays relevant to the department throughout the school.
  • To undertake such other duties, of a similar nature, that may be required from time to time by the Headteacher.
  • To bring to the attention of the Head of Department any matter that reflects on the efficient and effective running of the Department.
  • To undertake examination invigilation.

This is a term time only position, 37.5 hours per week, 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. The daily rate being £80-90 per day depending on experience.
