Rupinder Kaur (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist. Based in Birmingham, UK her work often focuses on womanhood, language and history.

She is particularly interested in exploring the feminine narrative and gaze through the power of storytelling with her different artistic disciplines from poetry, writing, performing and acting. Rupinder’s debut poetry book Rooh (2018) was published with Verve Poetry Press and she is currently working on her second collection.

Rupinder’s poetry has been published in SPAKE Dialect and Voices from the West Midlands, Lumin Journal, Wild Court, Under the Radar Magazine, Wasafiri and others.

Rupinder’s one-woman show Imperfect, Perfect Woman debuted at Wolverhampton Literature festival in 2022.

Rupinder has also been a BBC New Creative and developed audio piece The Girls that Hide and Seek. She has also written a paper on predominant Panjabi Poetess Amrita Pritam (1919-2005) which has been published by Routledge India in their Writer Provocateur series.

In 2022 she was part of Kali Theatre Discovery program (2021-2022), India-UK Creative Industries at 75 (2022) and Tara Theatre, Artists Make Space (2022).

She has taken part in Artist residencies at JOYA Arte, Spain, Art House Holland and Preet Nagar in Panjab. Rupinder co-wrote and acted in the short film The Two Artists which had its premiere at the UK Asian Film Festival.

Rupinder is currently further working on experimenting with movement, dance and poetry through being awarded Developing your Creative Practice Grant.

Rupinder Kaur was part of the DESIblitz Literature Festival in 2023 and featured in the event Poetry Matters – Poetry & Spoken Word Panel on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
