Dr Shahed Yousaf grew up in Birmingham.

After qualifying as a GP, he worked in prisons and with the homeless community.

He has a special interest in substance misuse and detox therapies.

Dr Yousaf is interested in working-class narratives and the therapeutic aspects of literature.
