Davina is a British Indian woman who was born and raised in West Yorkshire, where she now lives with her husband and two daughters. She gained a First-Class degree in Radiography, a Distinction in her Post-Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound and worked as a Sonographer in the NHS for 17 years before leaving the profession to pursue a career in writing. She is a high school governor and enjoys volunteering in this role within the education sector.
Her writing journey began when she was accepted onto the 6 week ‘Becoming a Writer’ course with The Asian Writer in December 2021. She was then chosen to be part of the Harper Collins Author Academy in Autumn 2022 to become a non-fiction writer.
She is currently writing a non-fiction (mental health and culinary) book and offers her services as an authenticity/sensitivity reader after having worked on numerous projects with major publishing houses and indie authors.
A nature, health and food addict, you can find her running or walking amongst the Yorkshire hills, baking or cooking delicious homemade goods – macarons being her favourite bake! – and engaging in mindfulness and meditation.
Davina Bhanabhai was part of the DESIblitz Literature Festival in 2023 and featured in the event Emerging Writers on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
