Kavita Bhanot is one of the founding members of The Jaag Collective.

The Jaag Collective have a wonderful and fascinating focus on Panjabi and Pahari-Pothwari language literature.

Dr Kavita Bhanot

Kavita’s fiction, non-fiction and academic writing has been published and broadcast widely, including the 2015 landmark essay ‘Decolonise not Diversify’.

She has edited three short-story collections, including Too Asian, not Asian Enough (Tindal Street Press) and is co-editor of Violent Phenomena: 21 Essays on Translation (Tilted Axis). Her translation of Anjali Kajal’s Hindi stories Ma is Scared (Comma Press) won a Pen Translates Award in 2021.

For the last ten years she has been a reader and mentor with The Literary Consultancy.

Kavita co-founded the Literature Must Fall collective and festival and is currently writing a book titled Literature Must Fall: Resisting Literary Supremacy.

Kavita Bhanot was part of the DESIblitz Literature Festival in 2023 and featured in the event Spotlight on JUGNI with Kavita Bhanot (JAAG) on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
