The role involves supporting individuals and families across Monmouthshire who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse and require housing-related assistance.<\/p>\n<p>You will help service users improve their safety, maintain their tenancies, access appropriate support and work towards independent living. The role covers a range of needs and risk levels, including ongoing support beyond the initial crisis stage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse and housing difficulties.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct needs assessments and develop personalised support plans in partnership with service users.<\/li>\n<li>Complete risk assessments, including SafeLives DASH assessments, and develop appropriate safety and risk management plans.<\/li>\n<li>Support individuals to maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness or tenancy breakdown.<\/li>\n<li>Assist service users in accessing alternative accommodation, housing advice and welfare benefits where required.<\/li>\n<li>Work collaboratively with housing providers, local authorities, the police, social services, IDVAs and other statutory and voluntary agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Identify safeguarding concerns and respond appropriately to changing levels of risk.<\/li>\n<li>Support individuals to develop confidence, independence and sustainable community support networks.<\/li>\n<li>Assess home security needs and liaise with relevant agencies to arrange appropriate safety measures.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate case notes, support records, assessments and monitoring information.<\/li>\n<li>Use electronic case management systems and ensure records are completed in line with relevant policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in team meetings, supervision, reflective practice and ongoing training.<\/li>\n<li>Take part in an on-call rota, providing telephone advice and support to colleagues and occasional in-person or out-of-hours assistance when required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>Essential Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience supporting individuals who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of developing support plans and safety plans in partnership with service users.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of partnership working with statutory and voluntary agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with the police and\/or the wider criminal justice system.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of community-based support or outreach work.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to build trusting relationships and communicate in a sensitive, empathetic and non-judgemental manner.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of risk assessment, safeguarding and professional boundaries.<\/li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.<\/li>\n<li>IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and electronic record-keeping systems.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively as part of a team.<\/li>\n<li>A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) qualification or recognised equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working within a psychologically informed framework.<\/li>\n<li>Experience using electronic case management systems.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of housing support, tenancy sustainment, homelessness and welfare benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Salary and Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Salary of \u00a325,020 per annum.<\/li>\n<li>35-hour working week.<\/li>\n<li>Potential Flexibility for remote working.<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities for relevant training and professional development.<\/li>\n<li>The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have experience in domestic abuse support or strong transferable experience in housing, homelessness or related support services,\u00a0<strong>Apply now or contact Olivia at (url removed)\u00a0for more information.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":65203,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"Monmouthshire","_application":"https:\/\/www.cv-library.co.uk\/job\/225761587\/Housing-Support-Officer-Domestic-Abuse?s=103904","_company_name":"Niyaa People Ltd","_company_website":"https:\/\/www.cv-library.co.uk\/list-jobs\/227025\/Niyaa-People-Ltd","_company_tagline":"","_company_twitter":"","_company_video":"","_filled":0,"_featured":0,"_remote_position":0,"_job_salary_currency":"","_job_salary_unit":"","bs_cache_bypass_cache":0},"job-categories":[],"job-types":[685],"job_listing_tag":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
