\u00a335,000\u2013\u00a339,000 Basic Salary | \u00a345,000\u2013\u00a350,000+ Potential Earnings<\/strong><\/p>\n Company Vehicle | Overtime Opportunities | Paid Travel Time (subject to confirmation) | Specialist Training<\/p>\n Location:<\/strong> Oxford, Reading, Swindon, Milton Keynes, Newbury or surrounding areas<\/p>\n Coverage:<\/strong> M4\/M40 corridor, Birmingham, Bristol, West London and occasional South Wales<\/p>\n Work on something a little different from your typical maintenance job.<\/p>\n Are you a mechanically minded Maintenance Engineer looking for more variety, greater independence and the opportunity to develop your skills working with specialist engineering systems?<\/p>\n We’re recruiting for an established, highly respected engineering business specialising in the design, installation and maintenance of advanced controlled-environment facilities.<\/p>\n These aren’t your typical commercial buildings.<\/p>\n We’re talking specialist research facilities, university laboratories, environmental chambers, high-tech greenhouses and climate-controlled environments where precision engineering is essential.<\/p>\n From temperature and humidity control to pumps, ventilation, mechanical systems and building controls, you’ll be working with a genuinely interesting mix of equipment and technology.<\/p>\n This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a mechanical maintenance, HVAC, building services or facilities engineering background who enjoys hands-on engineering, solving problems and working independently.<\/p>\n You don’t need to know everything from day one.<\/strong> The company provides specialist training and is far more interested in finding a capable, mechanically minded engineer with the right attitude than someone who ticks every box.<\/p>\n The opportunity<\/p>\n You’ll become part of a specialist engineering team responsible for keeping technically advanced facilities operating reliably and efficiently.<\/p>\n Working across an established network of client sites, you’ll carry out planned maintenance, inspections, fault-finding and occasional commissioning support.<\/p>\n This is a mobile position, giving you the freedom and variety of working at different locations rather than being tied to the same factory or building every day.<\/p>\n You’ll be trusted to organise your work, communicate directly with clients and take ownership of the maintenance activities you’re responsible for.<\/p>\n What you’ll be doing<\/p>\n Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across specialist mechanical and environmental control systems.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Inspecting and maintaining pumps, pipework, valves and associated equipment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Checking water flow rates, system performance and operating conditions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Inspecting ventilation and air-handling equipment, including filter replacements.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Checking alarms, monitoring systems and building management controls.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Diagnosing mechanical faults and supporting repairs to minimise equipment downtime.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Undertaking basic electrical checks and testing where appropriately trained and competent.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Supporting testing and commissioning activities on newly installed systems.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Producing straightforward maintenance reports and communicating findings to clients and the engineering team.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n What we’re looking for<\/p>\n We’re particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have a solid mechanical foundation and enjoy a varied, hands-on role.<\/p>\n Your background could be in:<\/p>\n Mechanical maintenance or multi-skilled engineering<\/p>\n<\/li>\n HVAC, ventilation or air-handling systems<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Building services or facilities maintenance<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Pumps, pipework or fluid-handling systems<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Industrial or commercial plant maintenance<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Field service engineering<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Ideally, you’ll bring:<\/strong><\/p>\n Practical experience maintaining or fault-finding on mechanical equipment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n A working understanding of pumps, pipework, ventilation or similar systems.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Confidence working independently and dealing directly with customers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n A proactive approach to problem-solving.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Previous experience with BMS systems, particularly Trend, would be beneficial, but isn’t essential<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Likewise, you don’t need to be a qualified installation electrician.
