This role sits within our clients Publishing Service, which powers (url removed)- the single website for UK government, serving 30 million users monthly, across 700,000+ pages. <\/p>\n
The publishing tools and services we provide support over 2,300 civil servants in managing government content. Ensuring this publishing ecosystem is flexible, secure, and easy to use is critical to delivering accurate and timely information to the public. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Responsibilities of the role:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
You will:<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver the product and iteratively improve it through several cycles.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Develop an expert understanding of the users’ needs and behaviours, championing these in the delivery of the product.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Define, explain and iterate an evidence-based product vision that is compelling to users, teams and stakeholders.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Maintain a roadmap and product strategy that show plans at different horizons and levels of detail.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Develop and prioritise a product backlog, writing effective user stories and making decisions based on evidence and value for money.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Identify assumptions and risks behind possible approaches and incorporate these into product planning.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Collaborate with team members to create prototypes and other low-cost ways to test assumptions and approaches at both strategic and usability levels.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Safely use test-and-learn approaches where the costs and risks of an incorrect technology choice are low.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Set measurable goals for the product and report progress against stated benefits.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Share insights with leadership at appropriate points to help the programme strategy adapt and maximise success.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Support the vision, roadmaps and delivery of other products across the programme and GDS<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Consider opportunities to use data to create personalised and curated digital experiences.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Engage with users and stakeholders through a range of channels to encourage adoption and use of the product<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Build services in line with the Service Manual principles.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Adapt approaches according to the lifecycle phase of the work<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Understand, communicate and, where necessary, challenge the validity of constraints.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Create, curate and continuously improve product documentation.<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Play an active role in the government product management community, sharing learning and celebrating the progress of others.

Skills and experience required:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
You will have:<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Experience of successfully developing and releasing digital products with proficiency in agile product management techniques, such as roadmaps; prioritisation; creation of user stories; MVP definition; using research, analytics and insight to inform decisions; planning at different horizons;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 An understanding of the variety of disciplines involved in digital delivery, including engineering, content design, service design, performance analysis and user research, developed through working in multidisciplinary teams<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Successfully engaged with users to improve their products, commissioning research and turning qualitative and quantitative insight into product improvements<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Successfully handled a range of stakeholder relationships to successfully deliver products that meet user needs and deliver business outcomes<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Reconciled strong differing opinions using evidence or user research<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Evaluated return on investment\/value for money on different approaches<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Been familiar with setting, monitoring and reporting measurable performance objectives<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Used data and analytics to spot problems with, and evaluate success of, new features or any experiments<\/p>\n
