Morson are recruiting Mechanical Fitters to join Marshall Land Systems at their new facility in Merthyr Tydfil.<\/p>\n
There are contract and permanent roles available, <\/p>\n
The salary on offer is £35,000.<\/p>\n
Alternatively there are also contract role available, these will be initially for 6 months with a strong possibility of becoming permanent. The hourly rate is £17.67 or £23.88\/hour via an Umbrella company. <\/p>\n
The next Assessment days will be on 16th and 17th September and will involve both individual and group assessments and a trade test. <\/p>\n
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for the inspection, refurbishment, and repair of shelter units to ensure they meet operational, safety, and customer requirements. The role supports both refurbishment activities and the assembly and installation of new containers, contributing to the successful and timely delivery of customer projects. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Mechanical Fitter ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.<\/p>\n

Refurbishment & Repair<\/strong><\/p>\n Conduct detailed surveys of shelters requiring partial or full refurbishment (mechanical and basic electrical elements)<\/p>\n Carry out repair, refurbishment, and upgrade activities to restore units to required specifications<\/p>\n Identify and report defects, damage, or deviations from engineering standards<\/p>\n Reverse engineer components where drawings or specifications are incomplete or unavailable<\/p>\n Assembly & Installation<\/p>\n Support assembly and installation of new containers and associated systems<\/p>\n Assist with build, test, and installation phases, including fault finding and rectification<\/p>\n Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and is ready for inspection, testing, and customer acceptance<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Technical Execution<\/strong><\/p>\n Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions<\/p>\n Safely use mechanical and electrical hand tools (e.g. drills, rivet guns, sealing tools, jigsaws, socket sets)<\/p>\n Complete all work in line with engineering and quality standards<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Health, Safety & Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n Carry out all tasks in accordance with safe systems of work and health and safety procedures<\/p>\n Ensure appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times<\/p>\n Identify hazards and report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses<\/p>\n Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment in line with 5S principles<\/p>\n Support the company’s commitment to maintaining a safe production environment<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Quality & Compliance<\/strong><\/p>\n Ensure all assembly installations comply with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and company standards<\/p>\n Complete, check sheets, and quality records accurately<\/p>\n Support quality inspections and testing processes<\/p>\n Identify non-conformances and assist with corrective actions where required<\/p>\n Maintain high standards of workmanship to ensure right-first-time build quality<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Continuous Improvement<\/strong><\/p>\n Actively support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment<\/p>\n Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and build quality<\/p>\n Participate in Lean activities including 5S, standard work, and waste reduction initiatives<\/p>\n Support improvements that enhance safety, productivity, and delivery performance<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Authority & Decision Making<\/strong><\/p>\n Carry out repairs or upgrade work within the scope of approved engineering documentation<\/p>\n Raise technical or quality concerns to the supervisor where required<\/p>\n Support resolution of issues during repair or upgrade process<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Skills & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Essential<\/strong><\/p>\n Proven experience in a mechanical fitting, assembly, or maintenance role<\/p>\n Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications<\/p>\n Experience working in a quality-controlled or production environment<\/p>\n Competence in using a wide range of hand and power tools<\/p>\n Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Desirable<\/strong><\/p>\n Experience in refurbishment or repair environments<\/p>\n Ability to reverse engineer components where documentation is limited<\/p>\n Experience in regulated industries such as manufacturing, defence, or engineering<\/p>\n Exposure to continuous improvement or Lean practices<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Technical Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n Mechanical assembly, disassembly, and repair techniques<\/p>\n Understanding of structural components, fixings, and sealing methods<\/p>\n Basic understanding of electrical systems (advantageous)<\/p>\n Ability to work accurately from detailed work instructions<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Additional local needs<\/strong><\/p>\n Full-time, site-based role<\/p>\n Ability to work in confined spaces where required<\/p>\n Manual handling and physical work involved<\/p>\n Successful candidate must be eligible for and pass BPSS clearance<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":62500,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"Merthyr Tydfil","_application":"https:\/\/www.cv-library.co.uk\/job\/225483139\/Mechanical-Fitters?s=103904","_company_name":"Morson Edge","_company_website":"https:\/\/www.cv-library.co.uk\/list-jobs\/425103\/Morson-Edge","_company_tagline":"","_company_twitter":"","_company_video":"","_filled":0,"_featured":0,"_remote_position":0,"_job_salary_currency":"","_job_salary_unit":""},"job-categories":[],"job-types":[685],"job_listing_tag":[],"yoast_head":"\n
