About the Department
<\/strong>
The Safety Product Testing team conducts testing on a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a global customer base, ensuring products meet minimum safety and performance standards. PPE testing includes gloves, fall protection equipment, motorcycle garments, high visibility clothing, eyewear, helmets, hearing protection, chainsaw garments, kneepads, sports protection, and more.<\/p>\n

The department consists of multiple accredited laboratories equipped with specialist machinery used to assess the physical properties of PPE against international and European standards. Test results are reported to customers and used to support product development and
certification processes (e.g. CE\/UKCA marking). The team includes a mix of technicians, technologists, and support staff responsible for
coordinating and conducting testing activities.<\/p>\n

About the Role<\/strong>
As a Technician within the Safety Product Testing team, responsibilities include:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Carrying out routine physical testing of PPE in line with international and European
standards, both on-site and occasionally at customer facilities
\u2022 Operating test equipment and machinery to generate accurate results
\u2022 Recording test data on documentation and electronic systems for reporting purposes
\u2022 Preparing test samples prior to testing
\u2022 Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of laboratory environments
\u2022 Managing sample storage and traceability
\u2022 Supporting senior technical staff during customer visits and demonstrations<\/p>\n

Training will be provided for all aspects of the role where required.<\/p>\n

About You
<\/strong>
Essential:<\/strong>
\u2022 GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science
\u2022 Good computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel, email, collaboration tools)
\u2022 Ability to remain motivated during repetitive tasks
\u2022 Reliable with strong time management skills
\u2022 Able to work independently and as part of a team
\u2022 Strong written and verbal communication skills
\u2022 High attention to detail and thorough approach
\u2022 Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Desirable:<\/strong>
\u2022 Experience working in a laboratory environment
\u2022 Familiarity with PPE
\u2022 Experience using standard office software
\u2022 Understanding of quality management systems
\u2022 Adaptable with a willingness to develop new skills<\/p>\n
