Social Value Manager – Construction<\/strong><\/p>\n

We’re recruiting a Social Value Manager to join a growing construction business delivering new-build social housing projects across Greater Manchester and the wider region. Working closely with housing associations and local stakeholders, you’ll be at the heart of driving positive social, economic, and environmental change.<\/p>\n

About the Role<\/p>\n

As Social Value Manager, you’ll take ownership of social value delivery across live projects—ensuring commitments are not only met but exceeded. From employment and skills to community engagement and environmental initiatives, you’ll play a vital role in shaping long-term community benefits.<\/p>\n

This is a hands-on, high-impact role offering autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to influence how social value is embedded across construction projects.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Social Value Strategy & Delivery<\/li>\n
  2. Own and manage Social Value Plans across multiple projects.<\/li>\n
  3. Ensure delivery of all contractual social value commitments.<\/li>\n
  4. Drive continuous improvement aligned to the company’s Social Value Strategy.<\/li>\n
  5. Keep programmes relevant, meaningful, and responsive to local needs.<\/li>\n
  6. Stay informed on legislation, best practice, and emerging social value priorities.<\/li>\n
  7. Lead initiatives covering employment, skills, education, community engagement, and environmental sustainability.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Data, Reporting & Insights<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Collate and manage qualitative and quantitative social value data.<\/li>\n
    2. Measure and report performance against targets using tools such as the Social Value Portal.<\/li>\n
    3. Produce professional reports for clients and internal stakeholders.<\/li>\n
    4. Develop compelling social value case studies for tenders and marketing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Stakeholder & Community Engagement<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Build strong relationships with housing associations, local authorities, VCSEs, education providers, and community groups.<\/li>\n
      2. Engage local communities to identify needs and co-create lasting legacy outcomes.<\/li>\n
      3. Deliver education initiatives, volunteering programmes, and community events.<\/li>\n
      4. Liaise with schools, colleges, and universities to create work experience opportunities.<\/li>\n
      5. Support and manage individuals undertaking construction-based placements.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Supply Chain & Collaboration<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Work closely with the supply chain to maximise social value contributions.<\/li>\n
        2. Capture and report activity such as apprenticeships, local labour, training, and charitable initiatives.<\/li>\n
        3. Encourage shared ownership of social value outcomes across projects.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Environmental & CSR<\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Understand environmental and CSR requirements within construction contracts.<\/li>\n
          2. Support delivery of environmental social value initiatives with clear, measurable targets.<\/li>\n
          3. Ensure alignment with wider sustainability objectives.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            About You<\/p>\n

            Proven experience delivering social value within the construction sector (essential).<\/p>\n

            Strong understanding of public sector procurement and social value requirements.<\/p>\n

            Confident stakeholder manager with excellent communication skills.<\/p>\n

            Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple live projects.<\/p>\n

            Experienced in data analysis, reporting, and evidencing impact.<\/p>\n

            Passionate about creating positive social, economic, and environmental outcomes.<\/p>\n
