White Label are proud to be working on an exclusive basis with leading engineering business based in the Humber area that operate in the pharmaceutical & medical industries in their search for Mechanical Design Engineer/Senior Mechanical Design Engineer due to increase of orders and team growth.

Job Purpose:

To take a leading role within the mechanical design team developing high quality, fully automated machinery incorporating the latest machine vision and automation technologies. The position requires involvement from initial concept through to build, testing and release to customer, ensuring conformance with customer specification, regulatory compliance and good engineering practice. 

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Design, development and manufacture of innovative machinery including design of potential solutions, developing new machinery, modifying existing equipment, completing feasibility studies
• Undertake site visits to customers to include solution proposals, project review meetings, project installation, commissioning
• Develop and build prototypes and run tests to measure their level of function
• Liaise with internal manufacturing team during product manufacture, advising them on design specifications and providing physical assistance when required
• Consult third parties such as component manufacturers, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers to solve complex problems and deliver projects within agreed timelines and budgets
• Work with Project Management to ensure projects are carried out in accordance with good manufacturing practice safety guidelines and current legislation, and meet the design requirements
• Maintain project records, attend regular team meetings to provide progress reports and strategize on next steps
• Check systems to ensure they run smoothly, safely and meet performance targets prior to dispatch
• Generate and review mechanical documentation for testing, manual compilation and training purposes
• Provide mentoring and training to junior members of the team
• Implement systems and ways of working within the mechanical function to help the team develop and grow
• Attend training and develop relevant professional knowledge
• Form co-operative and respectful working relationships with colleagues across the business

The Person:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Design Engineer/Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role fuction
• Minimum HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• If you have come from shop floor/apprentice or similar background and progressed into a Design role this would be desirable but not a must
• Must have experience in designing special purpose machinery, conveyors, material/mechanical handling equipment, automated machinery, heavy engineering, automation products, robotics or similar related products or industries to these
• Previous experience in using Solidworks ideally but not a must if not used similar 3D packages such as Autodesk Inventor, Solidedge, etc
• Ability to work using own initiative but also work well as team
• Able to develop trust and motivate others
• An ability to act as a role model and lead by example

Salary & Benefits:

• My client is offering a highly competitive salary of £30,000 – £60,000 (dependent on experience)
