About the Role

Onpoint Care Recruitment is expanding our Early Years team, and we’re looking for warm, enthusiastic, and reliable Nursery Assistants to support a variety of nurseries across East Sussex.

We offer a range of placement options, including:

• General nursery support
• Baby rooms, toddler rooms, and preschool rooms
• SEN/SEND support roles (1:1 or small‑group)
• Long‑term placements for consistency
• Day‑to‑day cover for flexibility

You can choose the placements that best match your skills, confidence, and career goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and supervise children in stimulating, age‑appropriate activities
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well‑organised environment
• Assist with daily routines including meals, play sessions, toileting, and rest periods
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and nursery staff
• Provide emotional support, reassurance, and encouragement
• Complete basic administrative tasks such as record keeping
• Support outings, activities, and transitions throughout the day
• Adapt confidently to different nursery environments and routines

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working in a nursery or Early Years environment
• Strong understanding of early childhood development and EYFS principles
• Ability to adapt quickly to different nursery teams and environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Confident in positive behaviour management
• A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Right to work in the UK

Desirable

• NVQ Level 2 in Children and Young People, Early Years, or equivalent
• NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent
