Mechanical Engineers – Engineering and Maintenance

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for your next challenge? Do you want to be the Engineering subject matter expert within our Engineering or Maintenance teams and be a key role in our plant integrity?
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the leading of both people and contractors, underpinned with subject matter technical knowledge. You will preserve the plant, minimise costs and above all deliver the Engineering asset / Maintenance strategy that supports the long term commercial and operation of the plant. Accountable for delivering compliance against legislative, statutory, corporate and site policy and procedures you will provide engineering expertise and ownership for contract management including the delivery of assigned budgets.
This is a permanent role and you’ll be based on site our powerplant in Selby, North Yorkshire
About the role
You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day people leadership and you will have the ownership of a plant area which includes outage engineering support, refurbishment, and maintenance.
You’ll be responsible for delivering compliance against legislative, statutory, corporate and site policy and procedures in relation to Health, Safety and the Environment, Engineering and Quality requirements.
Drawing upon your experience you’ll have the ability to make key business decisions and be able to drive a change culture of continuous and business improvement.
You’ll develop and implement the Engineering and Maintenance strategies for the Power Station – meaning you’ll be working collaboratively with other plant areas and business functions to ensure the reliability and efficiency of Drax Power Station is maintained.
Health and Safety is our priority! Within this role you’ll promote One Safe Drax including investigating safety accidents/incidents, issue actions to ensure resolutions are learnt to prevent reoccurrence.
With your experience, you’ll set and review budgets and manage costs, ensuring expenditure is appropriate and within approved budget. You’ll also hold contract management responsibilities including detailed Technical Specifications of work, risk assessment, and supervision of contractor work including setting to work when acting as Contract Owner/User.
You will need to have a recognised apprenticeship with a minimum of a HND in an engineering related discipline, including a recognised HSE qualification and preferable power station or process industry experience in a skilled maintenance or engineering capacity.
You’ll also have experience of managing budgets for projects and you will be able to respond and adapt to change with a positive attitude and a willingness to try and develop new ways of working.
You’ll bring a fantastic attitude, with strong team and relationship building skills with an ability to clearly communicate.
