EC&I Technician – New Build Energy from Waste

We are recruiting for an EC&I Maintenance Technician to join the Maintenance Team on a brand new state of the art Energy from Waste Power Station. This plant is currently under construction and is capable of processing 150,000 tonnes of waste per year to produce Power for the local area.

As an EC&I Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for keeping the plant maintained and maximising plant reliability and availability to achieve it’s output targets.

Roles & Responsibilities
As the EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Pre-planned and reactive maintenance duties on all electrical, controls and instrumentation assets across the power station
  • Fault finding/maintaining mostly electrical system; motors, drives, single phase & three phase equipment, switchgear, high/low voltage plant etc and instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level & flow) and control systems
  • Calibrating instrumentation
  • Conducting continuous improvement activities, plant modifications and design work
  • Supervising 3rd party contractors
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
  • Assisting in plant developments and projects
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination.
  • To ensure the availability of plant spares
  • Commissioning activities

Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Ideally qualified in a recognised Electrical / C&I apprenticeship in a heavy process industry
  • A relevant technical qualification such as an NVQ / ONC / HNC in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation engineering or a similar discipline
  • At least 4 years of hands-on maintenance experience with motors, switchgear, instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperate etc) and control systems (SCADA, DCS and PLC)
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc. Royal Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered.
  • Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with High-Voltage equipment such as transformers / switchgear will be advantageous
