Job Description: Stokesley Maintenance Coordinator
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Responsible For:
• Shift Maintenance Engineers
Purpose of role:
• To support the Maintenance Manager in the implementation of the agreed maintenance policy across all assets
• To support the Maintenance Manager in the management and implementation of the day to day maintenance planning and execution functions
• To support the Maintenance Manager in the management and implementation of the statutory and operational engineering scheduling systems
• To support projects for plant modifications

Your Key Contributions and Tasks

Key Tasks

Management

• To oversee the maintenance of all production related equipment,
on a shift basis ensuring that yourself and your engineering team
members are aware of their objectives / KPIs and that these are
attained
• To ensure that Standards are laid down for working practices, cost
and quality are attained and monitored
• To establish and maintain good individual relations within the
engineering department and other departments and to liaise
effectively with suppliers, service providers and external
representatives
• To ensure that all Health & Safety standards are met
• To be responsible for the development of improvements ideas
regarding product, plant, people and process and their relationship
to both capacity and utilisation
• Promotion, development and implementation of a continuous
improvement culture. Challenging the norm and driving change
• Managing engineering improvement projects to deliver increased
performance
• Coordinate systems used for controlling contractors working on
site i.e. PTW
• Ensure engineering personnel are working to good manufacturing
procedures to meet food safety requirements
• Ensure an efficient fault response to your internal customer with
agreed deadlines. Escalate as required and control unplanned
work to minimise down time
• Ensure engineers comply with engineering business processes i.e.
stores stock management, Holistech transactions, etc
• Implement and support the engineering strategy, including the
training and development programme
• Develop and identify capital investment projects
Report and investigate, as required, any machinery induced
accidents or near misses implement any measures to prevent a
repetition
• Be involved with internal and external audits
• Comply with all legal compliance, procedural and system
requirements

People Management and Development

• Actively demonstrate leadership In all aspects of maintenance, as
well as food safety and quality requirements.
• Coordinate direct reports in accordance with agreed company
policies and procedures
• Agree personal development and training plans to support the
development of the engineering team to improve skills levels
across the site plant and equipment to have a positive impact on
MTBF and MTTR
• Work with the maintenance manager to ensure yearly objectives in
place for your engineering team using SMART format with regular
review and feedback meetings
• Create a self-accountable team environment which allows a
continuous improvement culture to develop alongside delivery of
the plan. Empowering your team to deliver and continually improve
Ensure that your team have a clear understanding of their roles
and accountabilities, as well as the expected behaviours
• Develop your direct team via regular coaching and mentoring,
training and leading by example
• Review core training / competency requirements, develop and
agree training plans / frameworks to best meet core competence
and development requirements
• Review team capability and performance frequently, ensuring
constructive feedback and positive reinforcement is regularly

priority maintenance and production plans

down in the Company Health and Safety Responsibilities for
Managers and Supervisors, and cany out the Company safe
operating practices, and procedures.
* Proactively take part in TOPS safety audits on a monthly basis.
Assist in ensuring that matters identified are closed against agreed
timescales.
• Encourage your direct reports to report near misses/accidents
• Ensure that the operation consistently complies with all legislative
and company standards with regard to safety, product safety and
quality

Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence

 Contribute to continuous improvement / operational excellence
projects through Continuous Improvement Teams (Ci)7- / Operational Excellence Leads
• Provide technical expertise for breakdown investigations using root
cause analysis
• Assist and support equipment and material trials and ensure all
settings and procedures are documented in accordance with site
procedures

Communication
 Ensure there are clear communication lines between shift teams
and other functional departments
• Liaise with central functions and share best practice to ensure
overall supply chain is optimised
• Determine and ensure delivery of factory priorities
• Ensure all employees attend briefings relevant for their area
• Take accountability for factory performance and report accordingly

Team Support
• Deputise for Maintenance Manager, as required, and provide Input
on maintenance strategy
• Provide Engineering expertise in multi discipline teams/meetings
• Lead and contribute to team meetings
Give advice and support to team members
• Work closely with other relationship holders, senior managers and
knowledge managers
• Detailed reporting of plant performance improvements/projects
including financial information
Participate in the recruitment and selection process, advising and
influencing line managers in the development of job descriptions
and Job evaluation
• Support all plant shutdowns and produce and report against the
plan at all stages, leading to, during and reporting afterwards on 1
the Shutdown Plan

technically competent personnel. Academic background
• Time served Engineer
• Minimum HND in a relevant Mechanical/Electrical discipline (ideally level 3
qualified)
Ideally qualified to degree level. Persons educated through an
apprenticeship route would be considered based on their individual merits.
Practical Experience
• Awareness of MBP (implementation of maintenance best practice)
• Experience of CMMS utilisation and development
• Minimum of 5 years industrial experience, food manufacturing experience in
a similar role would also be an advantage.

access etc)
