Location: Huntingdon

Working hours: 6am-6pm / 4on4off (Nights only)

Basic Salary: £46,000 p/a

Benefits: X1.5 Overtime, 20 Shifts annual leave, progression opportunities, 5% pension, share scheme, Uniform & subsidised canteen, site parking.

Reason for roles: Brand new production facility requiring a night’s team. 

The Business:

With an impressive workforce 5,000 strong across 15 International sites, our client has grown rapidly within the Food industry and now turnover over £2.1bn as a group.

Specialising in International Food, they process and pack a diverse range of Poultry and Fish products most popular being Swedish Meatballs, Smoked Fish and Prawns, Marinated Steaks & Chicken Breasts through to their ‘ready to go’ ranges of baguettes, salads & hummus and healthy ranges of Vegetarian and Vegan alternatives. 

Their site in Huntingdon has been a huge employer and national supplier to supermarket giants including Tesco & CO-OP, statistically they supply over 41% of Britain’s households and is the largest Food Packaging site in Europe.

The Engineering team in Huntingdon, currently 45 strong have worked hard throughout the pandemic to ensure machines have ran smoothly so that shelves can been stocked, retaining their entire operational workforce and now in a state of rapid expansion, are looking to further their team and hire five Multi-Skilled Engineers to support with a brand new production facility.

The Role:

Having recently invested over £1M in a state of the art multi-range production facility to further their offering and increase production volumes at Huntingdon.

The role will combine both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, both planned and reactive to ensure asset availability and smooth running machinery.

  • Attending breakdowns within a high speed food processing factory

  • Machinery list: Conveyors, Checkweighers, Seasoning machines, Packaging Machines, Vision & Inspection machinery, X rays, Barcode Scanners, Robots and shrink wrapping machinery.  

  • Diagnosing faults using Allen Bradley PLC’s, rectifying and replacing faulty electrical and mechanical components.

  • Working through job sheets to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance on a wide range of production machinery.

  • Assisting on installation and maintenance based projects as and when required.

Entry requirements:

  • 5 Years minimum experience as an Maintenance Engineer (Either Mechanical or Electrical).

  • Preferred industry experience: Food, Distribution, Beverages, Automotive, General Manufacturing and Aggregates.

  • Apprenticeship trained with a City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical maintenance.
