Synopsis

Bibi is plagued by memories of the past, and her granddaughter Simran is starting to notice. In resolving to teach Simran how to make Cha, they are pulled into the past, to Bibi’s memories of one fateful day in Delhi, 1984.

DIRECTOR BIO

Gagandeep Kalirai is a director and animator that identifies as a member of the diaspora. After graduating in Animation from the University for the Creative Arts, Gagandeep went on to win the Limelight film award in best student documentary for her animated short, Another Girl.

Passionate about combining animation and documentary, Gagandeep aims to bring light to issues within ethnic communities that the wider audience is rarely privy to. Whilst studying for her Master’s degree at the National Film and Television School, Gagandeep secured the Bafta scholarship and has directed and animated Meltdown (2018), My home (2018) and Cha (2020).
