Synopsis

“You can either be a Football and get kicked around by others all your life Or kick the ball yourself… the choice is yours “ says Rekha to Goli in the feature film Football.

This dialogue neatly sums up the message of the film written and directed by Shoib Nikash Shah and shot in the beautiful locales around Jammu with local village boys.

Goli (Gulshan) is a poor boy in a Jammu village who dreams of becoming a football player. Circumstances however led him to take up his father’s profession of painting statues. Now in his late 20s, he bumps into Rekha, a woman who wanted to be a football player but who has been married off at a young age. She, however, continues to play street football with village children, coaching and encouraging them to “play the sport”. Goli joins her team and starts living his dreams again.

The film weaves around complex relationships that develop between Goli and Rekha and his and her family! The common passion and love for the sport keep them going. Will Goli be able to play with the pressures of life that develop around him?
