Remember each diet supplement works in different ways.
Due to our busy lifestyles, we don’t always have time to eat the right foods; this is where diet supplements come into play.
Dietary supplements are food supplements which provide nutrients, such as minerals and vitamins to our bodies.
They play a vital part in our health, because as you are aware, it is not always possible to gain the nutrients we need in our everyday diets.
But, as with most things, there are both pros and cons to taking diet supplements. Each supplement varies.
Some turn fat into energy, suppress your appetite and increase your metabolism, which burns fat faster than usual. Others, however, can increase your heartbeat, leave you with headaches and give you a high body temperature.
DESIblitz’s top five diet supplements are:
Green Coffee Beans
Green Coffee beans are natural and safe to add to your dietary needs. They boost energy throughout the day, are effective appetite suppressants, and are said to work very quickly.
Cheryl Cole was said to have used GCBX Green Coffee beans to lose 2 stones in 1 month.
They work by blocking glucose from the blood stream with antioxidants called polyphenols.
The pills fight the fats going into our bodies. People who have bought this product say they help you lose weight, and get rid of that bloated feeling.
Raspberry ketone is the aromatic substance that you find in raspberries, which give them their distinctive smell. Ketones are the natural substances which are found in plants.
Most consumers who have purchased these supplements have had positive views about them. A lot of people have said they really work, and you do lose weight.
But as with anything you have to put in the hard work, such as cutting out certain foods and drinks.
Although people with diabetes, high blood pressure, COPD, asthma and heart conditions should all avoid raspberry ketones.
This is because studies have shown these supplements to aggravate high body temperature, raise blood pressure and heart rate. They are also not suitable for women who are breastfeeding.
Acai Berry Tablets
Acai Berry Tablets have become well known in the weight loss industry.
They are highly nutritious; they come from rich purple palm fruits, and contain purple pigments known as anthocyanins.
Consumers who have purchased these seem happy with the results, of weight loss, shinier hair and mental and physical energy.
When it comes to supplements, regular exercise and fitness is also essential. This way losing weight can be a much more rapid process.
Kim Smith from Walsall talks about her experiences with diet supplements:
“I am currently taking the Maxitone Sculptress shake for women, and it’s great. It tastes good, and is doing the job. I’ve lost four pounds in one week. My appetite had definitely decreased, and I’m feeling better about myself.”
“I am also doing exercise twice a week and eating healthily alongside it. In my opinion if you do take any sort of diet supplements, eating healthy and exercising is vital, as you do see faster results,” says Kim.
Zero Noodles – Gluten Free Organic Noodles
Zero noodles are made from a natural soluble fibre produced by the Konjac plant, which is then mixed with water to produce Zero noodles.
The good thing about these is that you can make your own sauce. They are an alternative to the noodles you would find at supermarkets which are full of carbs.
Zero noodles absorb the flavour of the food and sauce that they are cooked in and provide necessary fibre.
People who have tried these claim that although they are expensive, they are filling if you cook them right, while others say they taste ‘rubbery’.
Trimdextra contains green tea, African mango, green coffee bean extract, caffeine, CoEnzyme Q1 and Irvingia Gabonensis.
These pills are said to suppress you appetite, so you’re less likely to eat bad foods.
Negative effects can include headaches, nausea, jittery feelings, anxiety, insomnia and rapid heartbeat.
Claire Dey from Dudley talks about her views on diet supplements:
“My view is that weight loss isn’t easy; it is something that takes time and effort. The best way to lose weight is through a healthy eating and exercise regime. The best programme for me has to be Weight Watchers.”
“With Weight Watchers you don’t have to give up the foods you love, you just have to plan the rest of your meals around your treat. With that said, if a ‘miracle pill’ was 100% tried and tested, and became available, I would be willing to give it a go.”
Zumba fitness instructor Matt Raybone talks about his experiences with diet supplements. For him, they are not the only answer to a healthy lifestyle:
“On the healthy eating plan I am doing, there are no supplements, it’s just eating clean, fresh home cooked food. For the detox period caffeine, dairy, carbs and sugar is withdrawn from. This is the plan for the first 28 days.
“You can eat and drink what you want on one cheat meal per week. I’m drinking fruit teas which take a bit of getting used to, but are generally quite nice.
“There is a recipe for pancakes using vegetarian, organic warrior protein powder, this actually tastes quite nice and almost like the real thing. This seems to be working for me.”
So although there is something of a media hype surrounding diet supplements, remember you can’t lose weight by solely taking these supplements. They are known to help, but you need to put in work by eating healthy alongside it, and try to fit in some exercise.
Diet supplements are a great way of ensuring that you keep on track with your fitness and health. But remember each diet supplement works in different ways, so make sure you pick the right one for you.
