Good article. Sooo many brit asians have sex before marriage nowadays ( both men and women). i agree that it is the individual’s choice but it must be an informed one, with full knowledge of the consequences such as pregnancy, STD, social stigma. Nonetheless, having sex is a natural thing, not dirty or something to be ashamed about. marriage is another topic so i won’t get into that.

Great article. I don’t see the big issue here about having sex before marriage. Just because we are asian women it does not mean we cannot decide on what or how we want to live our lives. We know a lot more about what is right and wrong for us today as independent women and career women.

Bollywood is no different to Hollywood. Films are films and cannot be blamed in increasing the desire to have sex. I think education plays a big role especially when it comes to using contraception and there are lots of girls who don’t care when they are in the ‘moment’ which is where they give everyone a bad name too.

Many Asian women think it is okay to have sex on a first date. I think you still need to have standards. Sleeping with someone should not be a quick choice. I think to love someone and really know someone is important before you have sex with the person.

I agree that the message of contraception is not being followed. Too many Women are having sex with no protection and then getting into problems. And yes, their parents don’t even know they’ve had sex and then an abortion.

I’m fascinated by how Asian women are the ones always needing to conform. What about the men? Are they not included in this? Why is it that women always get highlighted as the ones mostly to do wrong? It seems British Asian men can have sex with whom ever they want and when or where they want? So, is sex before marriage not wrong for them? And the message of safe sex too?

its about time someone looked at this problem which a lot of people will not want to talk about. amongst my friends there are those who are with guys and done it all and those who will not. a lot of it depends on who you are and where you come from.

i think it depends on what your parents and family say but it that hasn’t stopped asian girls trying things before they get married and sex is one of them, especially if they are away from home like uni. i know that there a lot of girls living double lives one at home with family and one outside with a guy.

theree are lots of too that if you saw them in the way they dress would never look the type to be in full on relationships but they are and it is common knowledge in uni or college or even school.

I agree alot of ppl have sex before marriage, times have changed. Nowadays we have the freedom to go out and have relationships. In the 60’s girls would be married off at a young age.
